The EXIT music festival announced today that it will return to Petrovaradin Fortress next July, although its full-scale comeback had originally been planned for 2028, 021.rs reports.
“After three days of celebrating this historic victory, we are overjoyed to confirm: EXIT is coming home,” the festival announced on its official accounts.
The organizers said they had previously stated that EXIT would return when freedom returned to Serbia, and that, in their view, the moment had arrived thanks to the students’ courage, determination and perseverance.
“We originally planned to return in 2028 because a full-scale comeback, as we envision it, requires at least 18 months of preparation. But you have showered us with so much love,” they stated.
They received a large number of emails, messages and comments, while the enormous media attention made one thing clear to them: “You cannot wait that long, and neither can we.”
“Therefore, although EXIT’s major comeback was planned for 2028, next July we will gather at the Fortress once again to celebrate freedom, unity and love, with a special EXIT experience that we will reveal soon,” they announced.
As a reminder, EXIT’s organizers previously described the event as “effectively banned” in Serbia because of the support they had expressed for the students.
As a result, the festival did not take place in Novi Sad this year, where it had previously been held for 25 years.
This year’s edition of the festival was held at several locations around the world, from Montenegro and Malta to Egypt.
