Banatski Karlovac was shaken last night by a tragic family incident in which Dr. Aleksandar I. (42), a well-known and respected surgeon from Vršac, lost his life.
According to the initial findings of the investigation, the fatal incident was preceded by a heated argument between Dr. Aleksandar and his wife, K.L.T. (49). At the time of the incident, K.L.T.’s underage son from her first marriage was also in the house.
Investigators suspect that, following the verbal altercation between the spouses, the juvenile took a knife and inflicted injuries on his stepfather, most likely in an attempt to protect his mother.
Dr. Aleksandar was immediately taken with serious injuries to the nearest health center and was then urgently transferred to a hospital due to the severity of his condition. Doctors fought to save his life, but despite the efforts of the medical team, the renowned surgeon died from his injuries.
Police in Pančevo responded quickly and located everyone involved in the incident, after which they were taken to the police station.
The competent prosecutor’s office has been notified and is leading the investigation, while the crime scene investigation and further proceedings will determine all the circumstances surrounding the tragedy, as well as the motive that led to the fatal outcome.
