After weeks of uncertainty, speculations, and tectonic disturbances in the Water Polo Federation of Serbia, the leading officials have reached an agreement with Vladimir Vujasinović to take over the bench!
One of the greatest minds in the history of world water polo has accepted what is probably the hardest job in domestic sports at this moment, to put out the fire that threatened to completely consume our most decorated sport.
Vujasinović reached an agreement with the Federation on Saturday evening, which has not yet been officially announced, but the deal is very close to being made official.
The war on the line Soro – Stevanović
He sits on the hot bench after unprecedented turbulence that marked the previous period, when the national team was left without head coach Uroš Stevanović, due to disagreements with the president of the Federation, Slobodan Soro.
After Stevanović left the bench following inappropriate public appearances by Soro, Serbia faced something that was unthinkable – the withdrawal of eleven national team players, who stood by him.
The players, who for years formed the backbone of the team, decided to withdraw or temporarily distance themselves from the national team until things are put in order.
Precisely because of this, the engagement of Vladimir Vujasinović could be one of the life-saving moves, since he possesses an authority that no one can dispute.
His first and most important task will be to persuade those who withdrew to play for Serbia again.
