During World Trade Week, the President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, reaffirmed the importance of a strong economy, fair and reciprocal trade, the protection of national interests, and the strengthening of American industry and manufacturing.
In his message on the occasion of World Trade Week, President Trump pointed out that America is repositioning itself as a global leader in industry, innovation, manufacturing, and economic growth, emphasizing the importance of strategic trade policies, new investments, and international economic partnerships. It was particularly emphasized that modern trade is no longer just a matter of economy and statistics, but above all a matter of people, trust, cooperation, innovation, and shared development.
It was precisely in this spirit that a significant international gathering was held in New York within the framework of Trade Week and Month, in which Vladimir Božović, the Consul General of the Republic of Serbia in New York and Vice President of the Society of Foreign Consuls in New York, had the honor to participate.
The gathering was held in the historic building of “The General Society of Mechanics and Tradesmen”, an institution founded in 1785, which for more than two centuries has represented a symbol of entrepreneurship, knowledge, innovation, and the development of New York and America.

“In my address and numerous conversations with diplomats, businessmen, investors, and institutional leaders, I pointed out that the essence of modern diplomacy is precisely in building bridges — bridges of trust, cooperation, investment, technology, knowledge, and human relations,” says Božović, adding:
“I particularly emphasized that today Serbia wants to be recognized as a reliable, serious, and modern partner — a country of talents, innovations, new technologies, and an open economy, ready to further strengthen economic and institutional relations with the United States of America and the international business community.”
This was also an opportunity to confirm the growing importance of economic diplomacy in the modern world, as well as the active role of Serbia and our diplomatic network in global economic processes.
“A special symbolism is given to this event by the fact that it was held in New York — the city of Nikola Tesla, the world center of finance, trade, innovation, and international diplomacy.
I am proud to have had the opportunity to represent Serbia at such a significant international forum and to show once again that our country has something to offer to the world — knowledge, talent, ideas, partnership, and people who know how to build bridges of cooperation and friendship,” concludes Božović.
