A rather surprising piece of news comes to us from England, the cradle of football. Oxford United, a club that was relegated from the Championship this season, has received a new club leadership and appointed Serb Dušan Bogdanović to head it.
Bogdanović is a football agent, residing in Indonesia, but he has now transitioned into executive waters to be the chairman of Oxford. In that position, he will succeed Grant Ferguson after fundamental changes in the club.
Ferguson will be moved to a smaller role as a director, while Bogdanović’s main associate will now be Rudi Laksmana, a former member of the Inter board.
Oxford explained that these changes are part of the club’s ongoing commitment to “enhancing football performance, improving strategic direction, and progress both on and off the field.”
Thohir is the owner of Oxford
The owner of Oxford is Indonesian businessman Erick Thohir, who increased his controlling stake in the club last November. He took over the club in 2022, when he was part of a group that held a controlling interest of 51% of the shares. Football fans remember him from when he was the owner of Inter before the arrival of the Chinese.
Oxford was relegated from the Championship after two seasons in the second tier of competition, finishing in 22nd place on the table, four points behind the 21st position.
