Croatian President Zoran Milanović said he does not understand why Serbia is acquiring offensive weapons. Commenting on Aleksandar Vučić’s statements that “Croatia, Albania and Kosovo” want to attack Serbia, he said that Vučić is “quite an interesting man” and asked – how would they attack, with what, when they do not have an army for that.
Zoran Milanović said that the procurement of missiles is a sovereign decision of Serbia, reports N1 Zagreb.
“I must admit that I do not know what they want to achieve with that kind of armament. They spend a lot. God knows where all that money comes from and whether everything has been paid for. The fact is that China sold them something. Why Serbia is doing this – to a certain extent I understand that they want to have strong defense, but they are also acquiring offensive weapons. And that worries me, but again Croatia is in NATO and the European Union,” said Milanović.
He also added that Vučić makes unusual statements.
“I once already warned him that the memorandum of Croatia, Albania and Kosovo on cooperation in the field of the military, which was signed by the minister, is not any kind of military alliance. And now two days ago he speaks about a plan by Croatia, Kosovo and Albania to attack Serbia. That is quite an interesting man. How should we attack? With what? We do not have an army for that. Then you can believe me when I say it, after all I decide about that. It is not good to hear, except that it is silly,” Milanović said.
Continuing to talk about Serbia’s armament, Milanović mentioned Israel.
“Not only are they buying from Israel, our strategic ally, not only are they delivering to Serbia modern and dangerous offensive systems whose potential targets include Croatia, Albania, parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina – Israel is selling that to Belgrade,” Milanović said.
He added:
“I did not see that in Plenković’s letter to the NATO Secretary General, when he already complains and protests about Serbia, he also complained, for example, about Israel which with its actions enables Serbia to be twice as strong. The Chinese missile is one thing, the Russian jamming system is another. Dangerous things, but there is Israel to make it all together better, nicer and more beautiful, and that is our strategic ally.”
He said that Croatia’s procurement plan should have been oriented toward the fact that “Serbia has offensive medium-range weapons.”
“That is dangerous weaponry, no European country has it, the Chinese, Russians and apparently Iranians have it. And now Serbia has it. What will they do with it? Attack Croatia? That would be terrible for us, but even worse for them. With this I also call on Vučić, if that is possible, to watch what he says,” added the president of the neighboring country.
