Following the deaths of M.P. (28) and M.M. (30) yesterday, their immediate neighbor has come forward to describe the harrowing scene that unfolded when the young man realized his partner had overdosed during their intimate encounter.
The Frantic Plea for Help
The neighbor, who is separated from the apartment by only a single wall, described being startled by a noise around 3:00 PM.
“I heard a commotion in the hallway, and then someone rang my bell. When I opened the door, I saw a completely naked man. He was frantic, confused, and terrified,” the neighbor recounted. “Several neighbors came out, and he kept repeating: ‘The girl overdosed, open the intercom, the ambulance is coming.’ While I tried to calm him down, he kept saying, ‘She has to be alive.’ He was running in and out of the apartment, attempting to resuscitate her multiple times.”
A “Short-Term” Rental Apartment
The witness, a long-term resident of the building, noted that he believed the apartment was empty on New Year’s Eve. “In that apartment, tenants have been rotating for years. Until recently, some Russians were staying there. I didn’t know either of them; I had never seen him before this.”
Inside the Scene
Sources and the witness describe a scene of chaos inside the 9th-floor apartment:
- Evidence of Drug Use: Personal belongings, empty bottles, and glasses were scattered everywhere. A bag containing white powder (suspected to be cocaine) and visible “lines” were found on the table.
- The Victim: The young woman was found completely naked on the bed when medical teams arrived.
The Fatal Jump
The most traumatic moment occurred after the emergency team (Hitna Pomoć) arrived. “One of the young men from the medical team was visibly shaken by the whole event. Right before their eyes, the young man jumped out the window in a split second,” the neighbor said.
As the doctor was officially pronouncing the time of death for the girl, M.M. moved toward the window. A medical technician instinctively lunged to grab him, but the young man gave them no chance. He leaped from the 9th floor the moment he heard the confirmation that she was gone.
“The three-member medical team raced down the stairs instantly. He was lying on the pavement on his stomach, naked. There was a lot of blood; there was no saving him,” the witness added. Within moments, the building was swarming with police and a second ambulance team.
