Crvena zvezda’s basketball team was defeated in the 12th round of the EuroLeague on the road against Valencia, with a final score of 76:73.

The Serbian team now stands at 8–4 and is no longer the EuroLeague leader.

Zvezda had a possession to win or tie the game, but Kalinić threw the ball out of bounds three seconds before the end during the team’s final offensive play at “minus two.” Then, Miller-McIntyre took a shot for overtime but missed the three-pointer.

Besides that, in an extremely close game, Moneke’s missed layups — four of them — proved decisive. Along with a few more mistakes by the experienced player, this turned the game in the home team’s favor. A pity… Zvezda led for a good part of the second half and was close to victory.

The start of the game was good for the Serbian team. The impression was that they knew what they were doing at every moment and that they could achieve a positive result. However, in the second quarter, Zvezda’s game fell apart. In that span, they had as many as eight turnovers. The main issue was that the home team converted each of those turnovers into a fast break.

When you add three missed layups by Moneke, it’s clear that the result could not have been better than 49:39, which was on the scoreboard after 20 minutes.

Miller-McIntyre in the first quarter and Jordan Nwora in the second remained the only ones with notable offensive production. The former scored 11 points, and the latter 12.

The third quarter brought magical play from Zvezda. Perfect defense and an even better offense. Enough for the score to be 52:53 after five minutes. Obradović found the perfect lineup with Kalinić and Motiejunas in the main roles. In six minutes, the home team scored only one three-pointer.

At the end of the third quarter, in which Zvezda allowed only 11 points, the score was completely even — 60:60.

A back-and-forth battle followed in the final quarter, and the home team had more luck and skill.
