“I agree with the president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, and intelligence services confirm this: some Western centers are trying to organize a color revolution. In this case, in Serbia,” said Vladimir Putin.
At the Valdai Discussion Club meeting, the Russian president said this, warning that those pushing young people onto the streets want the Serbian people to suffer again.
According to him, there are always people, especially young people, who do not fully orient themselves in real problems, “in the prehistory of those problems and all the possible consequences that illegitimate forms of changing power can bring.”
“Where the color revolution in Ukraine led is well known to everyone. A color revolution is, to put it directly, an illegal, unconstitutional seizure of power. As a rule, it does not lead to anything good. It is always better to stay within the framework of basic laws, within the Constitution,” the Russian president said, answering a question from historian Aleksandar Raković.
As he pointed out, it is always easiest to influence young people.
“Young people in Serbia, even those who take to the streets, are essentially patriots, dialogue should be held with them. It seems to me that President Vučić is trying to do that, but they must not forget that they are above all patriots,” Putin said.
He also stressed that they should never forget the suffering the Serbian people went through before, during, and after the First and Second World Wars.
“Those who push young people onto the streets want the Serbian people to continue to suffer, even though they do not say so publicly,” the Russian leader warned.

He also referred to messages claiming that “when you overthrow someone everything will be fine.”
“No one ever says how it will be fine and at whose expense. Those who provoke such things never say that. Usually, everything leads to the opposite result, the reverse of what those who organize it expect,” Putin emphasized.
He said he believes that if dialogue is held with young people, “it is still possible to reach an agreement with them.”
“They are above all patriots and should understand what is better for their country – revolutionary transformations or evolutionary changes in which they themselves will take part,” Putin stressed.
But, as he concluded, “that is an internal matter of Serbia, not of Russia.”
Putin noted that he has “quite a good relationship” with President Vučić.
