The Serbian national team won the gold medal at the European competition “What do you know about traffic,” which ended yesterday in Belgrade. Our elementary school team took first place by a wide margin ahead of the teams from Lithuania and the Czech Republic. The four-member Serbian team included Anja Madić from “Sveti Sava” Elementary School in Pirot.
In competition with 70 pupils from 17 European countries, our team demonstrated exceptional skill on the course and knowledge of traffic theory. With this, Serbia’s national team justified its role as favorite and continued the tradition of success at the European “What do you know about traffic” competitions.
Anja Madić, European champion, said: “The hardest part of the competition was the theory, meaning intersections, and during preparations it was the practical riding. We prepared for about a month, and in addition, I practiced with my teacher in the school gym. All day long, from 8 in the morning to 8 in the evening we practiced, rode bicycles, had only a lunch break and could drink water, and that’s it.”
Besides Anja, Serbia was represented at this competition by Hristina Božić, Mihajlo Miladinović, and Novak Stojanović, winners of the National “What do you know about traffic” event.
Maja Karapandžić, professor of technology and engineering, added: “Anja is an excellent and dedicated student. The preparations we had during the summer, after the national competition, meant a lot to us. The children would not have been able to be such a good team and cooperate so well at the European competition without them. The results were expected, considering the children were exceptional, advanced quickly, accepted all criticism, persistent, diligent, hardworking. They were all as one.”
The European Championship, under the auspices of the International Automobile Federation, was organized by AMSS with the support of the Ministry of Interior.
