A small plane that landed at a Montana airport collided with a parked aircraft, causing a fire, but no one was seriously injured, authorities announced today.

A single-engine plane with four people aboard was attempting to land at the Kalispell city airport around 2:00 PM, the AP reported.

A preliminary investigation shows that the pilot lost control, crashed onto the runway, and struck multiple parked aircraft, which caused fires on several planes. The fire also spread to a surrounding grassy area before it was extinguished.

Passengers Evacuate Themselves, Minor Injuries Reported

Witnesses said the plane hit another aircraft at the end of the runway, and the passengers were able to exit the plane on their own. Two people sustained minor injuries and were treated at the scene.

The aircraft was identified as a 2011 Socata TBM 700 turboprop model, owned by Meter Sky LLC from Pullman, Washington.

Aviation safety consultant Jeff Guzzetti stated that such incidents, where small planes collide with parked aircraft, happen several times a year.

This February, a plane belonging to singer Vince Neil collided with a parked aircraft in Arizona, killing one person. The investigation into that case has not yet determined the cause of the accident.
