Serbian Thailand, Serbian Brijuni, Maldives beach, Serbian Cappadocia, Serbian Stonehenge are just some of the destinations that adorn our country.
Serbian Stonehenge or Three Stones is one of the most mysterious places in our country. No one knows whether these rocks were made by man or are a work of nature, reports City Magazine.
The mysterious blocks, about two and a half meters high, are located on Stara Planina between Gadžin Han and Babušnica, above the village of Ostatovica. Their original purpose is unknown.
Legend has it that there was also a fourth stone, which fell over time, and that the place served as a clock in ancient past, showing the seasons.
According to another legend, a girl from Ostatovica hid among the rocks at that place after the Turks killed her father, and the three stone figures helped her remain unnoticed, so the Three Stones are also called Maiden’s Rock.
However, it might just be a natural phenomenon created by soil erosion.
The three rocks are located about 900 meters above sea level and can only be reached on foot. The path is two kilometers long and quite steep, so if you head to the Serbian Stonehenge – be careful.
In recent years, an increasing number of hikers and nature lovers visit the rocks that stand like three fingers on a rocky base on a hill.
From the Three Stones, there is a magnificent view of Gornje Zaplanje, Mount Kruševica above Veliki Bonjinc, and the Crna Trava mountains Gramada and Ostrozub.
