Aleksandar Vlajić pleaded guilty to espionage and unauthorized possession of weapons before the court in Pristina. He concluded a plea agreement with the special prosecution, Kossev reports, citing Pristina media.
Lawyer Ljubomir Pantović told RTS that the judge sentenced Vlajić to five years in prison and €1,000 for illegal possession of weapons.
Pantović requested a sentence of four years and six months in prison for his client, stating that there were numerous mitigating circumstances.
On the other hand, the prosecution sought four years and six months of imprisonment up to five years of effective imprisonment.
Aleksandar Vlajić, whom the prosecution identified as an agent of the Security Information Agency (BIA), was arrested in June 2024 on suspicion of collecting and sending information to the BIA.
According to the prosecution, Vlajić created a network of employees of Serbian nationality, from whom he received information and reports on the work of international organizations in Kosovo and Metohija (KiM), which, according to the indictment, related to political and security aspects within the territory of KiM.
When asked by the judge at today’s hearing whether he understood the consequences of pleading guilty, Vlajić replied: “Yes,” in the Serbian language.
Vlajić was also accused of a terrorist attack on the office of the Municipal Election Commission in North Mitrovica in November 2022.
