The European Parliament has called on the Serbian authorities to release five detained activists of the opposition Movement of Free Citizens (PSG) and a student from the STAV organization who were illegally wiretapped.

The European Parliament expresses regret over the alleged illegal wiretapping and detention in March this year of five activists from the opposition Movement of Free Citizens (PSG) and one student from the STAV organization, as well as the issuing of warrants for other STAV activists.

The EP condemns the use of this case by propaganda media and the unjustified extension of detention and calls on the Serbian authorities to release Marija Vasić, Lazar Dinić, Mladen Cvijetić, Lado Jovović, Srđan Đurić, and Davor Stefanović from detention, according to the resolution of the EP rapporteur for Serbia, Tonino Picula, which was adopted yesterday by the European Parliament.
