Serbia’s top tennis player, Olga Danilović, secured a spot in the Round of 16 at the Australian Open with a stunning victory over world No. 6 Jessica Pegula, winning in straight sets 2:0 (7:6(7:3), 6:1).
This marks Olga’s greatest achievement in Melbourne and her second Round of 16 appearance at a Grand Slam, following last year’s French Open.
The match began with tension and uncertainty as neither player could gain a clear advantage. Spectators witnessed long rallies and high-quality tennis, culminating in a tiebreak.
At 3:3 in the tiebreak, Danilović shifted into a higher gear, playing confidently to claim the first set.
The second set was nothing short of remarkable. The pivotal moment came at 1:1 when Danilović saved three break points in a game lasting seven and a half minutes. From that point on, she completely dominated.
