Yesterday, the ski season opened on Zlatibor’s Tornik and skiing was free, but during the weekend there is a fee with a discount. It seems easier to ski than to sled – due to excessive construction, only one free track remains in the very center.
The video shows parents trying to explain to the police that they can no longer take their children sledding.
The track in the center of Zlatibor, which is seen in the video, is now fenced off. Those who want to sled must pay to enter.
Behind the N1 reporter is one of the few places where sledding is still free.
Not far from here, the slopes are practically fenced off. And to use them, you have to pay 500 dinars, which is the cost of renting a sled for an hour.
Snow fell this year even before the New Year’s holidays. However, parents are not thrilled.
“This is the only place where you don’t have to pay 500 dinars per child for them to sled. Because the prices are outrageous. In the center of Zlatibor, you can’t go anywhere without paying 500 dinars,” one mother told us.
“Mostly, every place has a fee, and in our conditions, it’s not exactly cheap,” says another father.
The free tracks seem to be of no interest to the authorities. They are unsecured and you sled at your own risk.
“This path should be closed. Because children slip onto the road and can’t stop. And then they can get hit by a quad or a car,” says one visitor to Serbia’s most popular mountain.
Stana Pavlović from the citizens’ group “Our People for Our Place” told N1 that the municipality of Čajetina should have provided and arranged free sledding tracks.
She points out that the local leadership constantly manipulates that Zlatibor is large and that there are many hills.
“Those are not arranged places. Tourists don’t know about them. They don’t have to know. If you wanted to get to them, you would have to get in a car and drive, to pack down the track. You don’t know what the surface is underneath and if a child could get hurt. Zlatibor is large, but we need a larger number of arranged tracks that are public and free,” says Pavlović.
Due to the high amount of snow, crowds have been noticed, even though the season on Zlatibor has just begun.
The current pre-New Year’s picture will soon be replaced by one showing lines of people.
But also lines of cars going up this mountain. A large number of them will have children. With sleds.
