A day before the US elections, the President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, issued an open letter exclusively published by Serbian Times, in which he endorsed the Republican candidate and former President Donald Trump.
“The Republic of Srpska deserves an America that respects the Dayton constitutional arrangement of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) and the sovereignty of domestic institutions, instead of the one that imposes the ambassadorial arbitrariness and contributes to instability”, said Milorad Dodik in his message, adding:
“The system in place in the U.S. and BiH is based on principles of checks and balances in order to ensure equality and prevent domination of one side. Just as California, the most populous U.S. state, cannot impose its will on the entire federation, so majorization cannot pass and succeed in BiH either. Donald Trump understands this, and unlike previous administrations, he will better understand the situation in BiH. He will not sacrifice BiH’s stability and progress for the sake of experiments and petty games pursued by a few who have built careers and made money on that.
Therefore, I urge all members of the Serbian community in the U.S. to support the Republican candidate, Donald Trump, in the upcoming presidential elections. His return to the leadership of the U.S. would signify the return of a reasonable and just foreign policy, that global stability also depends on.
Donald Trump’s victory will be the victory of family and traditional values, which are the pillars of European and Western civilization. These values have recently been threatened by ideologies that sideline family and tradition. Trump’s victory would mean defending and restoring these foundations that preserve the cultural and moral identity of our societies.
The future of political processes in BiH must be placed in the hands of local politicians, while foreign interventionism should remain in the past.
Donald Trump’s first term showed that he is the president of peace, one who conducts world politics responsibly and respects the specificities of all parties involved. I believe his new term will bring about better relations between the Republic of Srpska and the U.S.
As a family man, a Christian, a Serb, a father and a grandfather, and above all, a rational and pragmatic politician, I sincerely hope for Donald Trump’s victory. America led by him would be an America that understands diversity and promotes positive change through it, instead of an America that loses itself by imposing policies and views on the world that are not even universally accepted within its own borders.
I eagerly anticipate his victory and look forward to a new era of cooperation with the White House”, concludes the President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, in his letter, just one day before tomorrow’s elections expected in the US.
