Sara Hamzagić, a student at the State University of Novi Pazar, stated that she was hit by an unknown man in Zaječar while trying to “document irregularities” in the local elections in that city.
Hamzagić, who is part of an informal student observer mission, told Sto plus radio that she and her colleagues from Novi Pazar were recording what was happening near the polling stations at “Đura Jakšić” Elementary School.
She said that from early morning they had been recording numerous irregularities, cars with license plates from other cities bringing people to vote, and individuals carrying lists and “blank ballots.”

“We decided to film all of that and we followed those people to a local establishment. At that moment, while I was filming in front of the door, that man approached me from behind and hit my phone and face with his fist. Later, the owner of that establishment, or at least he introduced himself as such, verbally attacked us and forced us to leave because we were on private property,” she stated.
She said she did not report the incident to the police.
“We wanted to inform the war veterans, but we heard that the police had detained them. We didn’t even think about reporting it to the police because we have absolutely no trust in them. Today there were so many reasons for them to react, but they didn’t. They put themselves in the service of these thugs,” she said.

She added that another student from the State University was attacked during the day when an unknown man, who she said participated in election irregularities, drove a car at her.
Novi Pazar students have already left Zaječar and are on their way home.

Local elections are being held in Zaječar today, and strong police forces have been observed in the city.
A large number of police officers in full riot gear were also seen in Kosjerić, where elections are also being held.
