A US court has confirmed a previously made decision by which Croatia is obligated to pay the Hungarian MOL the amount of 286 million dollars.
The verdict was delivered by Judge Amir H. Ali of the District Court for the District of Columbia, following a lawsuit by MOL. The same judge rejected Croatia’s appeal in 2025 against the 2022 decision by which MOL was awarded 183.94 million dollars.
In the meantime, the figure has reached the amount of 286 million dollars, due to arbitration costs and interest.

In March of this year, the Croatian Government was informed of the decision by the court in Washington, which rejected Croatia’s objections to MOL’s request for the recognition and enforcement of the arbitration decision in the case “MOL Hungarian Oil and Gas Company Plc v. Republic of Croatia.”
Vice President of the Croatian Government Branko Bačić said that the funds for compensation to MOL will be provided by the budget, reports Zagreb’s N1.
