US President Donald Trump has stated that the United States of America (USA) will send Patriot air defense systems to Ukraine as aid in response to Russian attacks.

“We’re sending them Patriots, which they desperately need,” Trump said, two weeks after Washington announced it was suspending some weapons deliveries to Kyiv.

“I haven’t decided how many yet, but they’ll get them because they need protection,” Trump said.

According to him, the weapons delivery will be part of an agreement involving NATO, with the US paying for the weapons sent to Ukraine.

“We’re actually going to be sending them various pieces of very sophisticated military equipment, and they’ll be paying us 100% for it,” Trump told reporters.

The US President reiterated that he is “disappointed” with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“Putin has really surprised a lot of people. He talks nicely, and then he bombs at night,” Trump said.

US envoy Keith Kellogg is expected to begin another visit to Ukraine today.
