Former Russian Deputy Defense Minister Timur Ivanov has announced that he is ready to enter into a cooperation agreement with the prosecution within the framework of a second criminal proceeding being conducted against him, in which he is accused of accepting bribes in an amount exceeding 1.3 billion rubles, as well as several other criminal offenses. According to Russian media reports, Ivanov has expressed willingness to provide investigative authorities with information about the illegal activities of several high-ranking officials, as well as about their assets that could be confiscated in favor of the state.

However, he does not admit guilt for accepting bribes, but claims that his actions can be qualified as abuse of official position, stressing that he continued to engage in business activities even after taking up a state position. He conditions his willingness to cooperate on, as he stated, an “objective assessment” of his own actions.

A protocol on the completion of the review of evidentiary material was signed on March 27 at the Lefortovo detention center, where Ivanov is being held. He and his defense team have been analyzing a total of 458 volumes of case files since September 2025. On the same day, a petition was submitted to the head of the Investigative Committee of Russia, Sergey Korovin, requesting the continuation of investigative actions, additional questioning of the accused, and the possibility of reclassification of the charges.

According to the investigation, Ivanov received a bribe worth at least 1.185 million rubles between 2018 and 2023 from businessman Aleksandr Fomin, co-founder of the company “Olimpsitistroj,” in the form of construction works performed and material deliveries. Fomin has since confessed his guilt.

The second part of the indictment concerns the alleged obtaining of an interest-free loan in the amount of 152 million rubles from the agroholding “Ruskoye Selo,” co-founded by Sergey Borodin, who also confessed guilt and concluded a pre-trial agreement. The third case involves the construction of facilities — a bathhouse and boiler room worth 56 million rubles — near the house of Ivanov’s ex-wife Svetlana Zakharova.

In addition to corruption offenses, Ivanov is also charged with money laundering, as well as illegal possession and production of weapons. He had previously already been sentenced to 13 years in prison for embezzlement related to the procurement of ferries for the Crimean ferry service, as well as for siphoning more than four billion rubles from Interkomerc Bank.

While in detention, he repeatedly submitted requests to be sent to a special military unit, but those requests were denied.

Ivanov stated that his cooperation with Fomin dates back to 2014, when, as he claims, a joint enterprise was formed on the basis of the company “Olimpsitistroj,” which over time became one of the main contractors for the Ministry of Defense. According to him, the company, thanks to these deals, secured contracts worth around 140 billion rubles, and the revenues were shared between partners.

He expressed readiness to provide detailed testimony about these deals, as well as to reveal assets acquired through cooperation with Fomin that have not yet been known to investigative authorities. It is noted that assets worth around 1.2 billion rubles belonging to him and his family members have already been confiscated as part of anti-corruption proceedings.

According to his claims, a potential cooperation with the prosecution could contribute to shedding light on several serious and especially serious criminal offenses, as well as the identification of assets worth billions of rubles that could be returned to state funds.
