The Assembly of Citizens of Novo Naselje, which consists of the residents of the local communities “Gavrilo Princip” and “Bistrica”, declared the President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić and the Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy Milivoj Alanović unwelcome persons – persona non grata. In a post on social media, it was stated that Vučić and Alanović were declared unwelcome on the territory of both of those local communities in Novo Naselje, with the explanation that it is a symbolic goal.
“This decision is made as an immediate reaction to the action of the President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić, who abused his constitutional authority to pardon persons for the brutal beating of a female student who suffered serious bodily injuries on that occasion, and the pardon of a person for running over a female student with a motor vehicle who suffered serious bodily injuries on that occasion,” the explanation stated.
It is added that this act was perceived by the public “as an institutional approval of violence”, especially against women and young people, and as a gross humiliation of the victims, the judicial system and society as a whole, which seeks respect for constitutional rights and dignity.
As for Dean Alanović, the Assembly of Citizens of Novo Naselje points out that from the beginning of the student blockades, he showed “to what extent he was not up to the situation at the faculty, as well as the wider social crisis in which he was obliged to lead the institution.”

It is added that Alanović’s “spinelessness and servility to the regime” from the beginning of the blockade of the Faculty of Philosophy in December of last year, until August 26 and the expulsion of students and the calling of the police, went from “a transparent mask of alleged neutrality to open hatred towards the students in the blockade and the employees who support them.”
“His announcements and actions – from lukewarm and half-hearted ‘support’, through cynical ‘condemnations of all forms of violence’ in which he equated student blockades with the beating of students by regime groups, all the way to silence over police brutality – represent a shameful example of incompetence,” stated the Assembly of Citizens of Novo Naselje.
It is also warned that his decision to allow the permanent presence of the police in the faculty building was perceived “as an institutional approval of violence against students and citizens, as well as a gross humiliation of the freedom of the academic community.”
At the end of July, the Assembly of Citizens of the Local Community “Boško Buha” declared the President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić a persona non grata on the territory of that local community because he pardoned the attackers on students.
Vučić was also declared unwelcome by the Assembly of Citizens of the Local Community “Narodni heroji”.
