A minor from Belgrade was arrested last night in Herceg Novi on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of attempted murder.
“Last night, the duty service of the Herceg Novi Security Department received a report that a person had sustained knife-inflicted injuries near the Forte Mare fortress in Herceg Novi. Emergency medical personnel transported the injured person to the Meljine General Hospital for medical treatment, after which his identity was established. The injured party is a 17-year-old minor from Herceg Novi,” the Police Directorate announced.
According to the statement, the investigation determined that a physical altercation occurred at the mentioned location between the injured minor and an then-unknown male individual, during which the suspect inflicted multiple stab wounds to the victim’s abdomen before fleeing the scene in an unknown direction.
“Police officers of the Herceg Novi Security Department immediately began an intensive search of the entire city after learning of the incident. Through a rapid response and efficiently conducted operational activities, a 17-year-old minor was located and stopped in the Savina neighborhood within a short period of time. A knife with traces resembling blood was found and seized from him,” the Police Directorate added.
The suspect was then taken to the premises of the Herceg Novi Security Department for questioning and further official procedures, during which it was established that he is a minor citizen of the Republic of Serbia from Belgrade.
The suspect was deprived of liberty on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of attempted murder.
During the day, the minor will be transferred, along with a criminal complaint, to the jurisdiction of the Higher State Prosecutor’s Office in Podgorica for further proceedings.
