Serbia has around 1,100 distilleries, some of which are at the world’s top in rakija (Serbian brandy) production.

Over the past five years, the value of exports of this alcoholic beverage has more than doubled, reaching 13.3 million euros in 2023, Politika reported today.

At the prestigious international CMB Spirits Selection competition for strong alcoholic beverages, held in China in September, rakija from Serbia won as many as 18 medals.

In this international competition, which has been held in various countries around the world for 30 years, 22 distilleries from Serbia participated.

In the evaluation where 154 judges from 38 countries assessed 2,754 samples of alcoholic beverages from 62 countries, brandies from Serbia won two gold, six gold, and ten silver awards.
