The Minister of Internal Affairs of the temporary Pristina institutions, Xhelal Sveçla, announced that he has signed a decision on the formation of a working group that will analyze and propose modalities for the functioning of the gendarmerie, which, as he stated, will function within the ministry of internal affairs of the temporary institutions.

According to Sveçla’s post on Facebook, the tasks of the so-called gendarmerie will be to strengthen capacities for the prevention, management, and neutralization of threats to so-called Kosovo.

He also stated that the gendarmerie will be engaged in protection against terrorism, in managing high-risk riots, and protecting critical infrastructure.

According to Resolution 1244 of the United Nations Security Council, KFOR is the only armed force in KiM, but despite this, the temporary institutions formed the so-called police, as well as the so-called Kosovo Security Forces (KSF).

The so-called KSF was formed from the Kosovo Protection Corps, i.e., the previous terrorist so-called KLA, and in 2018, without the presence of Serb representatives, the assembly of temporary institutions adopted a law on the transformation of the so-called KSF into an army.
