The Serbian national team at the European Girls’ Olympiad in Informatics won one silver and one bronze medal, as well as two honorable mentions.

At the 6th European Girls’ Olympiad in Informatics – EGOI, which was held in Cesenatico, Italy, from May 12 to 18, Iva Živković, a student at the Mathematical Grammar School in Belgrade, won a silver medal, while Irina Stanišić, a student at the First Kragujevac Grammar School in Kragujevac, won a bronze medal, the Mathematical Society of Serbia announced.

Students of the Mathematical Grammar School in Belgrade, Anđela Nestorović and Jelisaveta Srdić, received honorable mentions.

The students who represented Serbia were, as stated by the Mathematical Society of Serbia, selected based on a series of competitions organized under the auspices of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Serbia.

The statement notes that the competition gathered 248 contestants from a total of 68 countries, and that the girls competed in solving eight complex algorithmic problems.

“The author of one of the tasks was Nemanja Majski, a member of the State Commission of the Mathematical Society of Serbia for informatics competitions of high school students,” the statement adds.
