The Serbian women’s volleyball team lost to Japan in the third round of the World Championship group stage.
The Serbian women’s national volleyball team was defeated in the last round of the World Championship group stage by the Japanese national team with a score of 3:1 (25:23, 30:28, 23:25, 25:18).
Our volleyball players started the match poorly; the absence of Tijana Bošković was felt, and the Japanese quickly gained a significant advantage (8:3).
However, our girls came back into the set, and it went into an uncertain finish, but the Japanese women were more focused and won this part of the game with 25:23.
In the second set, our volleyball players dominated, keeping everything under control until the finish, and then – they spilled it all! They allowed the Japanese women to equalize, an epic battle ensued, and Serbia was defeated 30:28.
The third set again brought uncertainty, but this time the drama had a happy ending! Our girls fought like lionesses and managed to win this period with 25:23.
In the decisive set, the Japanese women quickly gained a significant advantage. It was point for point until 6:6, and then our opponent went up to 10:6, and the Japanese team maintained that advantage until the end of the set, which they won 25:18.
In the round of 16 of the World Championship, Serbia will play against the Netherlands, while Japan will go on to play against Thailand.
