Serbian students achieved outstanding success at the 58th International Chemistry Olympiad in Tashkent, returning home with a total of three medals and one honorable mention.
At the prestigious competition, held from July 10 to 19 in Uzbekistan, Serbia’s four-member team earned top results in a field of 363 contestants from 92 countries around the world.
Andrej Drobnjaković, a fourth-year student at the Mathematical Grammar School in Belgrade, won the silver medal for Serbia. Bronze medals were awarded to Marko Branković, a fourth-year student at the Bora Stanković Grammar School in Niš, and Filip Kilibarda, a second-year student at the Mathematical Grammar School in Belgrade. Irina Alimpijević, a third-year student at the same school, received an honorable mention.
The International Chemistry Olympiad is the world’s most prestigious competition for high school students in the field of chemistry. The success of Serbia’s young talents was also made possible by the Serbian Chemical Society, which organized the team’s preparations at the Faculty of Chemistry of the University of Belgrade.
