Tennis is unfortunately being shaken by a new scandal in which, among others, a Serbian woman is involved. Namely, Mila Mašić (28) has been suspended for almost five years due to the fact that she publicly admitted to fixing matches during a hearing.
The International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) announced that Mila Mašić has been suspended with a four-year and 10-month ban from playing tennis, and in addition, she was fined a sum of 20,000 dollars, of which 5,000 dollars is “suspended.”
She admitted to several rule violations starting from 2024, stating that she fixed four of her matches and received money for it and that she did not report corruption attempts. She accepted the sanctions and waived a subsequent hearing before an independent commission, and the penalty includes the suspension that has been in effect since December 2025.
This means that according to the statement, Mila Mašić is not allowed to play tennis until October 23, 2030.
Besides her, Jana Vanik (23) from Germany, who refused to cooperate in the investigation, was also suspended, as well as a member of the Kazakhstan Tennis Federation, Asylbek Kasym, who is accused of corruption during the organization of a tournament. He refused to cooperate in the investigation.
As for Mila Mašić, her highest ranking on the WTA list was 875th place.
