The Petroleum Industry of Serbia (NIS) announced that the US Department of the Treasury issued a new, special license that postponed the full-scale entry into force of sanctions against NIS and enables the company to perform its operational activities unimpeded until October 8 of this year at the latest.

NIS stated that the license was issued on September 30 and recalled that the company had also submitted an amendment to the request for removal from the SDN (Specially Designated Nationals) list.

This is, as stated, a long-term and complex process, and the initial request was sent on March 14 of this year.

NIS emphasized that they are continuing with activities aimed at overcoming the current situation, and the company will inform the public in a timely manner about all new circumstances that may affect its business operations.

The U.S. imposed sanctions on NIS in January of this year due to Russian ownership interest.

So far, the sanctions have been postponed six times, the last time until October 1.
