The basketball players of Crvena zvezda experienced an extremely unpleasant surprise on their home court. In the 30th round, in front of a packed Belgrade Arena, they were defeated by the already written-off Bayern Munich 85:80, which has called into question their place among the top six teams in the EuroLeague. The red-and-whites were huge favorites, but in the end Svetislav Pešić leaves as the winner.

What Zvezda managed to do in this game is unbelievable, where the victory was practically written in advance. Perhaps that was actually the biggest problem in this match, considering that the red-and-whites still cannot deal with the pressure placed on them. And when it comes to the game itself, once again the same story.

Teams in Europe also had a break due to national team duties, so it would somehow seem logical that the break came in handy for rest, to recharge the batteries and prepare everything for the continuation of the season. However, Zvezda once again showed that sometimes even logical things do not work in their favor.

Until now, the situation with injuries was often an excuse, but Saša Obradović now had his strongest team available, which once again had mixed minutes, so we saw Donatas Motiejunas only at the start of the game, and after he came out — he did not return. Jago also spent three minutes on the court, Davidovac did not enter at all, while Dobrić spent 10 minutes on the floor, and Izundu and Bolomboj 12 each.

Simply put, Saša Obradović shuffled the cards a lot, searching for the best lineup, but the obvious problem was also that he did not have a backup point guard, someone who could give Cody a rest, as he spent more than 30 minutes on the court.

It is difficult to find the causes of such a poor performance, but it seems that Svetislav Pešić outsmarted his former player Saša Obradović, who still carries certain issues with his rotations, which was again the case this time.

They relied on isolations, on their own creativity rather than on any kind of teamwork, which did not work with poor three-point shooting percentages.

At one point Zvezda had 0/9 from three-point range, which caused them many problems with the score. A huge drop occurred in the second quarter when Bayern made a run after Izundu committed an unsportsmanlike foul, so Carsen Edwards made the free throw and then McCormack dunked. At that moment Bayern went to a huge 16-point lead in the second quarter. Saša Obradović immediately called a timeout.

That slightly shook up the team, which recovered, and by halftime they cut the deficit to seven points thanks to a three-pointer by Jared Butler from midcourt!

That three-pointer could have been the impulse for the red-and-whites, who started playing much better. At the start of the third quarter they managed to reduce the deficit to just two points, and then tie the game with two and a half minutes left. Chima Moneke hit a three-pointer.

Until the end of that quarter Gabriel made two free throws, after which Nwora missed a layup, and the punishment immediately came through Jessup with a three-pointer. However, Butler responded. The game entered the final 10 minutes, where Zvezda managed to turn the score around and hold the lead.

The red-and-whites held the advantage almost until the very end. Carsen Edwards scored on a drive with a foul, a very difficult shot, and gave his team the lead — 78:80.

Nervousness followed, Moneke scored, but then Carsen Edwards added points from mid-range. Chima Moneke had two free throws with 24 seconds left, he could have made both and cut the deficit to two, but he missed and that was it.

In the end, the best player for Bayern was Andreas Obst with 16 points, Carsen Edwards added 13, Neno Dimitrijević had 11, and McCormack finished with 10. For Zvezda, the best was Chima Moneke with 22 points, while Jordan Nwora and Jared Butler added 10 each.
