Partizan defeated Crvena zvezda Meridianbet in the 35th round of the Euroleague after a great drama and thriller that only the Serbian derby can direct – 89:82 (21:20, 17:18, 20:17, 31:27).
Partizan’s basketball players achieved a very significantly insignificant victory. Within the 35th round of the Euroleague, they celebrated against Crvena zvezda “away” with 89:82. This does not mean much to Partizan in terms of results, as they have no chance for the play-in, but it certainly means that they are “disrupting the plans” of their rival and that they have defeated them for the second time this season in the strongest European club competition.
All of Europe flocked to Belgrade this evening to follow a match that every time earns the attention of both the Old Continent and the entire world. What happens in the derby is recounted even “across the pond” in the United States of America. Everyone is delighted by the eternal derby.
It was the same this time; the spectacle was not lacking anywhere, neither on the court nor off the court where the fan groups of both teams were in more than a great mood. There was poking and prodding from both sides, there were skirmishes, there were also shameful moves, there was… There was everything that makes a derby a derby.
There was no lack of a feast on the hardwood itself, either. On one side was the Zvezda team, with the ground burning under their feet, who must achieve victory to fight for the playoffs and the top six places. On the other side was again the Partizan team, which lost its chances to reach the play-in long ago, but is playing for itself, playing for the soul. As their best player, Carlik Jones, would say – playing to mess up Crvena zvezda’s accounts.
And so it was in the end of this duel, although we had complete drama even though it was not the time for it; it was not hinted at. Partizan had +15 in the last quarter, and then suddenly fell and began to allow Zvezda to return to the match. The red-and-whites pushed, but they did not take advantage of the gifts and suffered a defeat, a very uncomfortable one.

Besides Zvezda experiencing a new defeat in the derby, they have now also complicated everything for themselves regarding the table. Now the real question is what will happen in the remaining three matches, considering that we have reached the very end of the Euroleague.
Zvezda will have something to regret here, especially because they again showed everything they did poorly this season. Once again there was a lack of lineup control, once again there was a lack of team play, once again there was a lack of everything. It seems as if Saša Obradović did not prepare for this match very well.
Everything was missing, and in the end, Zvezda suffered a defeat, but not just a defeat. They have entered a complication when it comes to the end of the season.
The best in this match was Carlik Jones with 26 points, four rebounds, and two assists. Besides him, Sterling Brown was also great with 22 points, while Bruno Fernando added 15 with five rebounds. Isaac Bonga was also in double digits with 12 points.
For Zvezda, the best was Codi Miller-McIntyre with 24 points, Rivero added 13, and Nwora 12.
When it comes to the match itself, it was difficult even before the start to say who the favorite was, difficult to say who could win precisely because of everything happening. Zvezda had not been playing so great in the previous period, while Partizan had been truly brilliant in the Euroleague.

Consequently, it was interesting from the first quarter. Zvezda struggled to find points; Rivero scored the first eight for his team, there was no space there for other players. They were not finding their way. Finally, towards the end of those 10 minutes, other players were activated, only when Saša Obradović decided to make changes. However, Partizan left nothing to chance and reached a lead of 21:20 at the end of the first quarter.
They entered the second much better thanks to Sterling Brown, who scored in streaks. Zvezda made rookie mistakes, and Brown reached 16 points in the second quarter alone, making him by far the most efficient at that moment. Zvezda needed something to give it an impulse, and that was precisely Sterling Brown, so Zvezda equalized.
Again during the second half, a see-saw score was seen, although Partizan managed to pull away. Zvezda lagged, chased, looked for a solution, and was constantly at a three-point deficit. This part of the game ended with 58:55 in favor of the black-and-whites.
In the end, the last quarter was entered, and there Partizan made a 14:2 run.
However, we saw a bit of tension in the black-and-white team as well. Three seconds in the paint, then eight seconds in their own half, then a traveling violation by Calathes, his two missed free throws… Zvezda had a chance to create complete drama, but Butler was selfish with 50 seconds left and missed a floater that would have brought it down to a one-point difference.
Points by Carlik Jones followed, which only sealed this match.
