Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó met today with the President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, in Budapest, and Orbán announced after the meeting that Dodik was convicted because “he refuses to play as Brussels dictates.”
“Milorad Dodik, the president of Republika Srpska, is in Budapest. President Dodik is convicted because he refuses to play as Brussels dictates. Hungary refuses to accept that decision,” Orbán wrote on Instagram, and with the post, he also shared a photo with Dodik.
Previously, the head of Hungarian diplomacy, Péter Szijjártó, stated that Hungary’s national security interest is “stability in the Western Balkans, and every external intervention that is contrary to that is both harmful and dangerous.”
“The decisions of the people of the Western Balkans must be respected, and questioning them jeopardizes stability and peace in the region,” Szijjártó announced on Facebook, and also shared photos of the meeting with Dodik and the Serb member of the BiH Presidency, Željka Cvijanović, in Budapest.

Dodik had previously announced that he was visiting his friend Viktor Orbán, the Prime Minister of Hungary, a leader who clearly and bravely stands by the will of the people, democracy, and sovereignty.
“I am grateful to him for his support for Republika Srpska and for his clear messages that what the people choose should be respected, not what the unelected impose. Our struggle is the same – to stop the abuse of the judiciary and the arbitrariness of the deep state. The end of that is near. The power of the people is returning to Europe, and with it, justice. Freedom will win, democracy will win!”, Dodik wrote on the X platform.
Dodik published a photo with the text that shows him with the Serb member of the BiH Presidency, Željka Cvijanović, at Orbán’s.
The Appellate Division of the Court of BiH on Friday confirmed the first-instance verdict against the President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik.
Dodik was sentenced in a first-instance verdict to one year in prison and a six-year ban on political activity, for not respecting the decisions of Christian Schmidt.
