After the long-standing acting director of the University Clinical Center Niš, Prof. Dr. Zoran Perišić, was dismissed at today’s Government session, hematologist Dr. Milan Lazarević has been appointed to his position, as we have learned. Doctor Lazarević is also the president of the City Board of the Movement for the People and the State in Niš, which is close to the SNS, and he is the son of General Vladimir Lazarević, who served a sentence in The Hague due to accusations of war crimes.
The new acting director of the Clinical Center in Niš, Dr. Milan Lazarević, became known to the public after joining the Movement for the People and the State, founded at the end of 2025. Specifically, Dr. Lazarević joined the Serbian Progressive Party in 2023.
“The only reason I joined was to show that unity and harmony are most important at a moment when we need to defend our fatherland from what is happening daily and from what is yet to come,” Lazarević stated at the time.
Although he said at that time that he did not want any functions, by the end of 2025, he was elected president of the board of the newly formed Movement for the People and the State, and in 2026, he became the acting director of UKC Niš.
Doctor Lazarević is also known in Niš as the son of General Vladimir Lazarević, who was convicted at the Hague Tribunal for war crimes and was released in 2015 after serving his prison sentence, since when he has been a regular guest on local television stations in southern Serbia.
Otherwise, Dr. Lazarević has two specializations, transfusion and hematology, is an assistant in the subject of Immunology at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Niš, and he formed the laboratories for hemostasis, serology, and PCR at UKC Niš and is the project leader of the first blood bank in this Clinical Center.
In addition to the new acting director, UKC Niš has, as we learn, also received a new deputy director, namely Prof. Dr. Goran Stanojević. Doctor Stanojević, a specialist in surgery and a full professor at the Faculty of Medicine in Niš, was until today the assistant to Director Perišić, and he is also politically very active. Namely, he is one of the founders of the Movement for the People and the State, so he is a party colleague of the new director Lazarević.
Doctor Stanojević deals with general, abdominal, and colorectal surgery.

Dismissal of the complete administration
As a reminder, at today’s Government session, the complete administration of the University Clinical Center Niš was dismissed, headed by Prof. Dr. Zoran Perišić and his deputy, the famous anesthesiologist Prof. Dr. Radmilo Janković.
Despite reaching the requirements for retirement, Prof. Dr. Zoran Perišić’s mandate was extended in 2025 until November 2027. However, after the Agency for the Prevention of Corruption recently submitted a request for his dismissal, the replacement followed at today’s Government session.
Namely, according to the Agency’s decision, the director of UKCS violated the Law on the Prevention of Corruption after he promoted his wife and assigned her brother several jobs within this health institution.
