Serbian basketball player Vasilije Micić will become a free agent by the end of the month.
NBA insider Rob Murouz reports that the Phoenix Suns will not exercise their team option to extend cooperation with Micić, who will thus become an “unrestricted free agent.”
This will save the Suns $8.1 million, which they would have had to allocate for the Serbian international’s one-year contract. The decision, after the Durant trade to Houston, is somewhat logical as the Arizona team wants to rejuvenate the squad and create a new core for the future.
In any case, Phoenix has until June 29 to announce its decision regarding Micić, who also played for Oklahoma and Charlotte in the highest quality league in the world.
In any case, Phoenix’s decision will soon be known, as will whether Micić will seek his fortune with another NBA team or return to the Euroleague. It is speculated that Fenerbahçe, Olympiacos, and Crvena Zvezda are interested in Micić’s services.
