M.D. from Babin Most, who was arrested in North Mitrovica in Kosovo and Metohija, has been ordered to be detained for 30 days, his lawyer Nebojša Dančetović confirmed today.
M.D. is accused of participating in events in front of the Zvecan municipality in May of last year, and the prosecution charges him with four criminal offenses: attack on the constitutional order of so-called Kosovo, endangering a person under international protection, assault on an official, and participation in a crowd that committed the criminal offense of hooliganism.
Dančetović said that the prosecution’s evidence is unfounded and that these are some fabricated photographs – that he was seen in a yellow sweater at the protest, holding something in his hand, but it is not visible whether it is a water bottle.
He confirmed that his client was at the protest that day, but that he did so because of political disagreement and that this cannot be qualified as an attack on the constitutional order.
“It is true that he was at the protest, but he did not injure any soldier, nor did he participate in the attack on international officials,” Dančetović said, adding that the court will only deliver the detention order in Serbian on Monday and that he will file an appeal.
