Defeating the mighty Boston Celtics is a big deal, especially in the second part of the season, when everyone in the NBA is fighting to secure the best possible position ahead of the playoffs. Tonight, the Denver Nuggets managed to do just that on their home court, winning 103:84!
Nikola Jokić delivered yet another above-average performance by his own standards, scoring 30 points, despite shooting below average (11-of-28 overall, 4-of-13 from three), along with 12 rebounds and 6 assists in nearly 33 minutes on the floor.
Alongside him, Hardaway stood out with 14 points, while Valančiūnas and Johnson added 11 each for the winning side. It is worth noting that Murray played only seven minutes, reportedly due to illness.
For the Celtics, Jaylen Brown led the way with 23 points (11 rebounds), while Derrick White contributed 20 points (6 rebounds).
Denver currently sits fourth in the Western Conference with a 36-22 record, while Boston remains second in the East at 38-19.
In their next game, the Nuggets will visit a weakened Oklahoma City Thunder (most likely without Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Jalen Williams, Chet Holmgren and Isaiah Hartenstein) in a Western Conference showdown, which will be an opportunity for another important scalp and a morale boost ahead of decisive battles and a tough upcoming schedule.
