Serbian tennis player Novak Đoković admitted that he felt relieved after the victory over Rinky Hijikata (6:0, 7:6), in the second round of the Masters in Miami.

This ended his series of three consecutive defeats, which had not happened to him since 2018.

“The impressions are excellent, the way I played and how I felt is definitely encouraging after the mini-crisis I had at the tournaments in Doha and Indian Wells, where I did not play at the desired level. I had two weeks since the last match I played in Indian Wells, so plenty of time to work on the game and on the body. I think we did a good job, although this is only the first match. I feel a little more relaxed, I felt relieved that I started the tournament with a win and broke the losing streak,” said Đoković.

He was also asked what the collaboration with Andy Murray brings him.

“It brings on every level, he was playing at a professional level just seven or eight months ago. He is someone who knows all the players, from this generation, but also from the older one. He played a lot of matches in the biggest stadiums in the world, he knows exactly the challenges I am going through, especially in this later stage of my career,” Đoković continued and concluded:

“We talk a lot about the way matches are approached, how we can improve the game. The priority for both me and him is to bring me to the highest possible level, both mentally and physically. I proved in Australia that I can beat the best tennis players in the world like Alcaraz.”

Đoković will play against Argentinian tennis player Camilo Ugo Carabelli in the next round, who defeated Alex Michelsen 2:1 in sets.

Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz suffered a surprising defeat in the second round of the Masters in Miami, as he was defeated by experienced Belgian David Goffin 5:7, 6:4, 6:3.

The match at Hard Rock Stadium lasted more than two and a half hours, and the 34-year-old Goffin showed that he can still compete with the best.

By the way, Alcaraz was on Đoković’s side of the draw, they were supposed to meet in the semi-finals, which means that the Serb’s job is now easier.
