Serbian judokas achieved great success at the World Junior Championship, which is being held in Lima, the capital of Peru.

After the first two days of the competition, two medals were won. Aleksandra Andrić became the world vice-champion in the under 70 kg category, while Nikola Simić won bronze in the under 81 kg category.

Aleksandra shone in Lima. On her way to the final, she successively defeated the Indian Kadeem, the favored Brazilian Oliveira, and the Russian Ognivova. She secured the silver with a triumph in the semi-final against the Frenchwoman Darbes Takam, only to lose in the final to the Swiss Fohou.

Nikola Simin first defeated the Brazilian Almeida, then the Turk Gurgen, and then the Estonian Dikajev. In the semi-final, Haru Akita, who later won gold, was better than the Serb, so Simin had to go to the repechage, where he fought against the second Serbian representative in this category, Dušan Grahovac.

Simin found a way to triumph and by ippon defeated his rival and national teammate for a place on the lowest step of the podium.
