Nikola Jokić could receive a dream offer, and American insider Sam Amick is already revealing part of the plans of NBA giants.
Perhaps the greatest basketball dynasty of the 21st century, the Golden State Warriors, have prepared a hellish plan for the summer of 2027.
Amick states that the “Warriors” will want to bring in a former MVP, and the first favorites are Nikola Jokić or Giannis Antetokounmpo.
“They want to maximize cap space for that summer of 2027. Right now, for the 2027/28 season, they only have Moody signed for 13.4 and Hield for 10 million, with the latter having the right to opt out of the contract. The Warriors, who are aware of the fact that both Antetokounmpo and Jokić have the right to opt out of their contracts in the summer of 2027, will not be the only team ready to react in case one of the two does not extend.”
The Serbian center has a contract with Denver until the summer of 2027, and it is not certain that he will extend the contract before that. Denver has prepared a contract to offer him, but they are not sure he will accept it.
Amick pointed out that both the Lakers and Clippers are lurking for their chance and will try to bring in Jokić.
“The Lakers and Clippers are among the organizations that have been sending similar signals in recent months.”
Jokić will earn $55.2 million next season, and then another $59.1 million. In the potential 2027/2028 season, he would earn 62.8 million, but at that point, he is free to “take his talents to another city,” as LeBron James once said.
