Serbian basketball player Boban Marjanović found himself in the center of attention of the basketball public during the match between the teams of Krka from Novo Mesto and Ilirija in the Slovenian championship, where during the victory of the home team (97:74), unfortunate scenes almost occurred in the “Leon Štukelj” hall. It was precisely Marjanović, who is not known for having a short fuse, who was ready for a confrontation with someone in the stands.
Marjanović was ejected during the fourth quarter of the match, and as he was leaving the hall, he received insults from the stands to which he decided to react. He pointed his finger at a Krka fan and then wanted to go up to him – which he was prevented from doing by, among others, Saša Dončić. The father of the best Slovenian basketball player and Marjanović’s good friend Luka Dončić made an effort to stop Boban Marjanović before the conflict escalated. Look at what that looked like:
Saša Dončić and Boban Marjanović had a brief argument, and the Serbian basketball player did not reach the stands where a physical confrontation would have almost certainly occurred. He was stopped, although it was visible on his face that he was not satisfied about it, as he looked several times toward the Krka fans with whom he had the conflict.
Before the ejection in this match, Boban Marjanović had 12 points and 15 rebounds, in 26 minutes spent on the court. With the defeat in Novo Mesto, his team lost the chances to reach the title, and Cedevita Olimpija and Krka will play in the finals. The final series in Slovenia begins on May 27.
