The Serbian women’s tennis team under 18 won the bronze medal at the European Championship in Granville, after defeating France 2:0.

In the match for bronze, Petra Konjikušić defeated Zlata Bartanush 3:6, 7:6, 6:2, and Anastasija Cvetković brought the second point with a victory against Daphne Mpechi Perikard 6:4, 6:1.

“We are very happy that we won a medal after such a difficult day we had in the semifinals against the Czechs. Still, we managed to reset ourselves and beat France. We are happy, but we regret that we did not qualify for the final,” Konjikušić said, as reported by the Tennis Federation of Serbia.

The Serbian team lost to the Czech Republic 1:2 in the semifinals on Tuesday.

“I am more than satisfied. The girls managed to recover both physically and mentally after yesterday’s difficult defeat, which is not easy. Both Anastasija and Petra played perfectly today, with a lot of desire. They truly deserved this medal. In the past few days, they have shown a high level of play, desire, and discipline. My heart is full to see them with a medal,” said coach Milana Spremo.
