Skopje police have filed criminal charges against two men on suspicion of raping a 32-year-old woman from Serbia who lives in Skopje, the Ministry of the Interior of North Macedonia announced.

According to the ministry’s statement, the Homicide and Sexual Offenses Unit of the Skopje Police Department filed expedited criminal charges against A.M. (41) and J.R. (34) on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of “sexual assault and rape.”

The two men from Skopje are suspected of raping the 32-year-old Serbian woman, who resides in Skopje, on July 17 at around 9:45 p.m. near the road connecting Gorno Lisiče and Dolno Lisiče, allegedly using physical force and threats.

The statement added that the suspects were brought before a preliminary proceedings judge, who ordered the confiscation of their passports as a precautionary measure.
