Tragic news arrived on Wednesday that the famous journalist and commentator Edin Avdić passed away.
Sports commentator, NBA expert, basketball analyst… All of that can be said about Avdić, who left us too soon, in his 48th year. The cause of death is not yet known.
Edin Avdić was born in Sarajevo in 1979. From early childhood, he played basketball in Bosna. The year he was born, they became champions of Europe. In the youth categories, he played as a shooting guard, and after moving to the first team, he became an excellent playmaker. After some time, he decided to stop playing basketball and dedicated himself to his studies. He graduated from the Faculty of Political Sciences in Sarajevo.

He got his first job at Federal Television, and after that, he worked at OBN. There, he stood out with his energetic broadcasts of the NBA league, as well as the national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Among the most famous moments in his career is the broadcast of the match between Bosnia and Lithuania, where Mirza Teletović hit a three-pointer from a great distance. That was when we heard the famous “Mirza from the parking lot”…
On “Arena Sport” television, he formed an unforgettable commentating duo with Nenad Kostić. The two of them were synonymous with NBA and regional basketball, and their broadcasts are the stuff of legends. No one will forget Dušan Kecman’s basket in Zagreb at the Cibona – Partizan match and their excitement after it. In the last few years, he was the author of the podcast “X&O’s chat,” where he talked with the biggest names from European and world basketball. Among his guests were Željko Obradović, Miloš Teodosić, Nikola Jokić, Ettore Messina, Žarko Paspalj, Vassilis Spanoulis, and many others.
