Nikola Jokić and Jamal Murray put on a spectacle against Dallas, and after one of the most impressive performances of the season, the Serbian center also shared a personal story that still affects him.
Denver won an efficient game 142:135, and the Jokić–Murray duo dominated the court. The Serbian star recorded an incredible triple-double with 23 points, 21 rebounds, and 19 assists, while Murray poured in 53 points.
After the game, Jokić spoke about his relationship with his teammate and their cooperation on the court.
“I think the most important thing for me is to create space for him when he’s playing a game like this. I know he will shoot and make shots, and when they start doubling him, then it’s on me to involve others or to score,” Jokić explained.
He also touched on the often-mentioned “beautiful basketball,” but made it clear what his priority is.
“I don’t know if it’s beautiful. It’s nice when we move the ball and get open shots, but honestly – I’d rather win than play beautifully.”
This game had additional weight as Jokić and Murray reached 400 wins together, becoming the most successful tandem in that period since playing together in the league.
“What I enjoy most is our progress. We practically started as ‘nobodies,’ reached a title, and we’re still improving. That shared journey is something special.”
Jokić also spoke about the period after his injury, emphasizing that he is still searching for the right rhythm.
“I was inconsistent because it was my first return after the injury. There will be both good and bad games, but that’s a new experience for me.”

Jokić: I cried because of Gary Harris’ trade
The most emotional part of the conference came when he talked about the moment of parting ways with Gary Harris, during the trade in which Denver acquired Aaron Gordon.
“I remember saying goodbye to Gary Harris and I cried, because I was really sad. We had a great connection and played well together. I think we were on the plane when it happened,” Jokić revealed.
As the season approaches its final stretch, Denver is finding its rhythm ahead of the playoffs, and it is clear that the relationship and chemistry between key players represent one of the team’s greatest strengths.
