ARRESTED FORMER MONTENEGRIN MINISTER: The Special State Prosecutor’s Office is leading an investigation against Vesna Bratić!

Former Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Montenegro, Vesna Bratić, has been arrested as part of an investigation by the Special State Prosecutor’s Office (SDT).

As announced, Bratić was detained in a separate SDT case, which is not related to the arrest earlier this morning of the former director of the Administration for State Property, Blažo Šaranović, Vijesti reports.

Vesna Bratić served as a minister in the government of Prime Minister Zdravko Krivokapić. During the first half of her mandate, she carried out extensive кадров changes in the education system, dismissing almost all school principals across Montenegro.

Sharp controversy over dismissals in education

The dismissals triggered strong political reactions. The opposition, led by the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS), accused Bratić of political revenge and settling scores with officials from the previous government.

On the other hand, Bratić claimed that the goal of the dismissals was the depoliticization of the education system, stating that certain principals had “abused educational institutions for political purposes.”

Opposition parties, however, responded with accusations that individuals close to her ideological views were appointed to the positions of the dismissed principals.

Details of the investigation and the reasons for the arrest have not yet been officially announced.
