Former President of the Republika Srpska (RS), Milorad Dodik, stated that he publicly and clearly supports U.S. President Donald Trump, that he was invited to the U.S. National Prayer Breakfast, and that he has no disagreements with Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić.
“What I believe is that before Trump, the world was absolutely against us Serbs as a whole, especially in RS, and we opposed that world by supporting Trump and continue to support him in his efforts to introduce some innovations in geopolitical relations,” Dodik said in an interview with the newspaper Politika.
He added that he supported Trump during both of his terms, that this did not go unnoticed, and that it enabled the “relaxation of our relations that we now experience.”
Dodik also stated that “the question of Serbia’s survival over the next ten years depends on Vučić’s position in power,” noting that “his governance stabilizes Serbia in an unstable global order,” and that “Vučić has stabilized Serbia.”
“We need strong personalities. In these uncertain and turbulent moments of history, in the alternative that Serbia offers, I absolutely see no one who could position Serbia properly,” Dodik emphasized.
He noted that he has no disagreements with Vučić—neither strategic, operational, nor daily—and that Vučić, as president, works sincerely and fully in Serbia’s interest.
