Serbia captain Nikola Jakšić will play in the final of the European Championship, despite the red card he received in the semifinal clash with Italy.

Namely, after the red card shown to the captain, Serbia lodged an appeal with LEN. An analysis followed, and the final decision of the governing body of European water polo was that the appeal was upheld.

Thus, as captain, Jakšić will lead the Dolphins in the fight for the gold medal against Hungary at the Belgrade Arena.

Even before the decision, head coach Uroš Stevanović pointed out that the Water Polo Federation of Serbia had done everything to have the suspension lifted and for Serbia to enter the fight for the gold medal at full strength.

Serbia’s water polo players will face Hungary in the European Championship final on Sunday at 20:30, while Italy and Greece will compete for third place at 17:00.
