The first international “Nikola Tesla” Film Festival dedicated to the life and legacy of Nikola Tesla will be held in Las Vegas, and the awards ceremony for nine categories is scheduled for January 7, the organizers announced.

This film review was founded with the intention of celebrating innovation and Serbian-American cultural unity.

“The goal of the festival is to use film as a powerful medium to highlight Tesla’s enduring influence on modern civilization, from electrical energy to wireless transmission, and to bring his legacy closer to new generations,” the festival organizers, who added that they have so far received 120 submissions from around the world to participate in the film festival, told Tanjug.

During the festival, the audience will have the opportunity to see films that explore science, innovation, and present stories with visions. “This revolutionary event introduces the legendary name of Nikola Tesla to the world of cinematography, honoring his genius, building a dynamic bridge between Serbian and American cultures,” the organizers added.

The festival, they state, is conceived as a symbolic “cultural and creative revival of Tesla’s legacy,” a poignant tribute to the visionary whose ideas have forever changed humanity.

In addition to screenings, the festival will award cash prizes and present the winners with a uniquely designed Tesla statuette, adding a special artistic and cultural significance to the recognition.

As they state, what makes the movement particularly inspiring is that it is led by a group of young and passionate Serbian creators working in the American film industry, determined to highlight Tesla’s impact on innovation, imagination, and filmmaking.

The festival is open to submissions from all over the world, with free participation for students, in order to encourage young creators to share their visions and be part of this historic moment.

So far, 118 submissions from all over the world have been received for participation in the Festival – from the USA, Canada, Japan, Argentina, India, Iran, Bangladesh, Morocco, Mexico, South Korea, Italy, China, Tunisia, Germany, Venezuela, Ukraine, Poland, Cyprus, Colombia, Belarus, Kenya, Libya, and Nigeria.

From Serbia, as stated, six films have been submitted so far.

The festival gathers authors who, like Nikola Tesla, push the boundaries of the possible. In addition to short and feature-length film achievements, the festival also opens its doors to innovative projects that used artificial intelligence in their creation, recognizing new cinematic languages and contemporary tools that shape the future of creativity.

The most distinguished filmmakers will be presented during the solemn festival evening, which includes a red carpet, screenings of the finalist films, and the award ceremony in seven categories.

A special award is also intended for filmmakers who use AI, which is the first time such an award is presented in the USA.

Just as Tesla illuminated the world with his inventions, this festival aims to inspire a new generation of filmmakers, giving space to brave and original voices that shape the future of cinematography. The festival positions itself as a new international film gathering that celebrates legacy and actively participates in creating the future of film.

The festival directorate consists of Katarina Bučevac Spenard, Jelena Sorkin, and Denis Bošnjaković, and the special guest who will open the Festival will be Professor Michael Pravica, who has dedicated his decades-long work to researching the life, work, and scientific legacy of Nikola Tesla, while his passion for Tesla’s genius leaves a strong and inspiring impression.
