The Gendarmerie intervened this evening near the Faculty of Philosophy in Novi Sad. According to N1 reporters, the police’s forceful action started suddenly against the peacefully gathered citizens.
As an N1 reporter announced, at one point there was a loud and piercing sound. The Gendarmerie began to intervene, using batons, and pushed back citizens as they moved toward the Faculty of Philosophy building.
Loud explosions were heard, and tear gas was thrown multiple times. At one point, some objects flew through the air, and an N1 cameraman who was wearing a helmet was also hit.
According to N1 reporters, the Gendarmerie cleared the campus not only of citizens and students but also of those providing first aid.

Police pushed people toward the Faculty of Sciences (PMF) and further toward the quay. Citizens were also pushed back toward Bulevar Cara Lazara, across from the plateau in front of the Rectorate. As one of the N1 reporters announced, the police moved in the direction of the quay.
As a reminder, the Ministry of Internal Affairs announced that it had information that participants in the unregistered gathering in Novi Sad intended to attack the police located in front of the Faculty of Philosophy and the Faculty of Sport and Physical Education in the city.
